Picture this….. London…. July…. 28 degrees…. we had just walked out of the Science Museum and saw a Vita Coco Kids bike coming towards us, like an oasis in the desert. We were  invited to try a pouch of Vita Coco Kids and we did. It is fair to say that they did not have to repeat the offer as we had got a pouch out and had the straw in it faster than you can say “I should coco”.

I am fairly sure that one of the Vita Coco Team were telling us that these naturally flavoured coconut waters had far less sugars than your average kids juice drink and that they contain a naturally occurring potassium for natural energy. Not only is coconut water good for you, as it is dense in nutrients but it is also filled with electrolytes which are great for re-hydration. We noticed this last part quickly as we all felt a lot more revitalised after finishing the pouch.  Our group included people who were aged 3,5,12,18 and three people aged over 30 (I am being really polite about two of them!). Needless to say everyone wolfed their Vita Coco Kids pouch down and some even asked if we could go back for more.

Since I returned from London I have now started to buy Vita Coco Kids in our supermarket shop. They come in two flavours – Mango & Pineapple and Apple & Blackcurrant. Both are equally as yummy and refreshing. We don’t tend to drink too much fruit juice cartons in our house and the kids normally have water or milk. However I made my decision to stock our fridge with  Vita Coco Kids when I saw the nutritional values of this natural product and also how much the kids loved it….. and I mean they are asking for a pouch all the time.  They can be bought in most supermarkets and on line (At time of writing Tesco have an offer on for a 4 pack for £2.99 or 2×4 packs for £5).

The pouches are really easy to take out and about. They are made out of Tetra Pak and are easy to grip. You don’t have to keep them in the fridge but I think I prefer them cool.  So far we have taken them in the car, on a picnic, at lunch and I may have had one the morning after a rather alcohol filled wedding. The packaging is great. Lovely design.  Normally when my daughter has a carton of juice she manages to spill the first bit everywhere by squashing the carton a little too much. With the double bended straw that Vita Coco Kids use, this has not happened…. result.

This is one of my favourite kids products (that I would also recommend for adults).  Vita Coco Kids naturally flavoured coconut water is naturally good for you, quenches your thirst very quickly, has a clever double bended straw, you can freeze them and make them an ice lolly, gluten free, no artificial colours or preservatives and now they are awarded a 5* Fifi Friendly award.
