Natural sunscreen…. one of the best…. if not the best…

As I write this, I am sat in my garden in the sublime sunshine with a nice cool drink…… sounds tranquil until you factor in that I bought my kids their first big paddling pool today and they are running around with great delight!!  I have been testing out a few natural sunscreens over the summer and although I have found a few favourites and some duffs, I think I have found the best so far.

My lovely sister in law was coming over from the USA and  I was lucky enough for her to bring me over some Derma E Antioxidant Natural Sunscreen with Clear Zinc Oxide  SPF 30 (www.dermae.com). Like so many great natural brands, Derma E is based in California where they are family owned.  This broad spectrum UVA/UVB body sunscreen does a great job and it does not leave you covered in a white film…… hallelujah! I have been searching for a sunscreen like this for years. I found one for the face about  5 years ago which got discontinued, but never a good one for the body. Not only does this wonder neutralise free radicals it is cruelty free, 100% vegan and does not contain ANY of the following

• Parabens
• Phthalates
• Sodium lauryl sulfate
• Petroleum
• Mineral Oil
• Artificial Colours
• Gluten
• GMOs

A pretty good start as far as I am concerned.  Then factor in that the clear zinc oxide used in this product  is safe as it is nanoparticle-free.  Not only does this sunscreen protect your skin, it also helps with the condition of it as the antioxidants in it (vitamin C and Green tea) help counteract environmental and age damage.  As a whole it is super lightweight on the skin after application and my skin did not feel tacky.  The application itself is really easy as well. One of my annoyances with some natural sunscreens is the fact that you have short window to rub them in before they get tacky and leave you all white. If you are applying sunscreen on kids, this is sometimes not physically possible. This sunscreen is hypoallergenic so I was happy applying it on the whole family.   I love the fact that it is fragrance free and does not have the lavender smell that so many do. One thing that I had never seen on a sunscreen before is a wind energy (certificate). Derma E  have a great environmental commitment and match 100% of their conventional electrical usage with clean renewable energy. They have now been manufacturing with wind power for 7 years.

This fragrance free sunscreen is a godsend. Suitable for all skin types and works fantastically. It lasted really well. I am so pleased to have tried this brand. I am going to actively seek out the rest of their products. I am delighted to give this a Fifi Friendly 5*.
