Scent and blend
Like many of us, during her pregnancy Thorpe became more aware of what she was putting on her skin. She noticed that she became sensitive to some of her beloved Estee Lauder and Creme De La Mer creams and also their scents. It was around this point that she started to focus on more natural, green beauty and organic products. For me, Vanderohe No.1 Nourishing Face Serum has to be one of my favourite smelling skincare products. Its scent is wonderfully transporting. A blend of rose otto, rose geranium, lavender, rose hip, cedarwood, grapeseed, frankincense, roman chamomile, neroli, apricot and wild crafted myrrh essential oils give a truly rich, luxurious and floral fragrance.

Application
Even before I had applied this oil based serum on my skin, it had an effect on me. From the moment I opened the bottle and breathed in the intoxicating yet delicate aroma, my mood felt transformed. Simply apply 2-3 drops to your hands and take a few deep breaths in before massaging the serum onto your skin. Apply each morning and evening as required. Vanderohe No.1 is great being used under make up and also adds well in with your moisturiser.
Packaging
Designed to help the user truly visualise and connect with each ingredient used in the serum, the Vanderohe packaging is spot on. Gorgeously illustrated with botanical drawings, the packaging uses recycled paper and educates the user about where the oils come from and why they are used. This serum is housed in a protective glass miron bottle. Responsible sourcing and carbon footprint are important to this brand and the latter is offset with a tree planting donation. During my two-week trial of only using this face serum, I also appreciated that the writing on the packaging did not smudge with the oil …. my bottle looks just as pristine now as it did when I opened it for the first time.
Giving Back
10% of the profits from Vanderohe goes directly to the Four Seasons Marine Saver Programme in the Maldives which is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Here they research coral reefscaping and manta rays. This was an important partnership for Vanderohe founder Thorpe, to help give back to the ocean and its marine life that have been damaged by the plastic and chemicals of the beauty industry over the years.

Vanderohe No.1 Nourishing Face Serum is vegan and cruelty free. The £88 for 30ml price tag may seem a lot on initial inspection, but I would say this, I would much rather spend money on one great quality product that addresses all of my skincare needs rather than spend less on several that are not as effective.
