Mel Millis Cleansing Oil & Repair Serum

Mel Millis Fifi Friendly

In the beginning there was Millis…..Marvellous Mel Millis!

I fell in love with Mel Millis’ Rose Hydrolate as soon as I got it I was fairly quick off the mark to get on her website to pick something else to purchase (www.melmillis.co.uk).   Although I liked the sound of the serums and face oils, I could not decide which would be best.

I contacted Mel Millis to get some advise and Tracey Foy (Mel Millis Founder) came back promptly with a remedy. She suggested the Rosehip & Pomegranate Serum as is great for fine lines. With summer in full swing, Tracey recommended a lighter moisturising routine for now with the serum, before introducing a face oil into my routine in the Autumn. At that stage she suggested I try the Frankincense  & Camellia or Neroli & Baobab.

Tracey also enquired if I had tried a cleansing oil before.  She pointed out that it’s amazing for clarifying the skin without upsetting its natural sebum level… perfect for blocked pores. Contrary to what most people perceive, it doesn’t make skin greasy and by washing away with a muslin cloth you gently exfoliate the skin.

The Daily Cleansing Oil bottle comes with a screw top and a dispensing pump. Great for if you travel and do not want the precious oil lining the inside of your toiletry bag. First impressions of the 50ml bottle was that it was dated June, given I writing this on 18th June …. this product is super fresh.

The pump dispenses the right amount of Cleansing Oil and I found that I only required a couple of pumps to cover my face and neck. The key ingredients of apricot and camellia are beautifully apparent in the aroma along with sweet orange, chamomile and lavender oils.

This Cleansing oil is gentle enough to remove eye make up and the muslin acts as a gentle exfoliator on the skin. The cloth is a good density, not too flimsy and not to large in size. Easily covers the hands as you compress the face with it before gently wiping the skin 2-3 times. I found that 2 times was enough.

The Cleansing Oil contains apricot, avocado, camellia, vitamins A, B,C, D, E and K, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, sweet orange, chamomile and lavender. It is a nourishing, detoxifying and soothing mix let my skin feeling awake, refreshed and thoroughly clean.

I next applied my Rose Hydrolate and took on board Tracey’s advise to pat my skin dry with my fingers, leaving it slightly damp before massaging in a couple of drops of the Serum. The 30ml Rosehip & Pomegranate Serum also comes with a screw top and the drop dispenser ensures that you do not dowse your hand in too much Serum.

My concern was that the Serum would not soak in and my skin would be greasy or the hair that touches the side of my face would look greasy.  I used about 2-3 drops to comfortably cover my face and neck.

I have now been using this routine for a couple of weeks. It has not been a chore, but I have actually really enjoyed it/ looked forward to my cleansing ritual.

My love affair with all things Mel Millis is going to continue. These products are to die for. The Phytonutri range that the serum and cleansing oil belong to contain 100% certified organic ingredients.  My skin feels the same level of moisture at the end of the day as it does when I first apply the Serum. Wonderful.

Two Fifi Friendly 5* product awards to Mel Millis  for the Rosehip & Pomegranate Repair Serum and also to the Cleansing Oil. I am also still in awe of the gorgeous, innovative, green and practical packaging that Mel Millis uses.
