I will put my hands up and say I have never been a beer or lager drinker. Not for any other reason than the fact that they are normally not gluten free friendly. So, when I found myself with a bottle of Celia Organic Gluten Free Lager in my hand I was not exactly sure how this blog was going to end.
This 100% organic, 100% natural ingredients, 100% craft lager, naturally carbonated and 100% gluten free Czech Pilsner lager took me by surprise. My first tasting was along with a homemade chicken and chickpea curry that had been delicately overspiced! I loved the taste and aroma of this lager. It has an ABV of 4.5% and is wonderfully smooth to taste. Vegan and coeliac friendly, Celia have carved themselves a great marketplace with a great product and have already won some awards.
For my next tasting I tried it with a slice of lemon and made a regular lager drinker taste it. No surprise given the traditional methods Celia is made with, my regular lager drinker thought it tasted the same! The crisp yet malty taste of this lager is a hit with me. I have now found myself trying to stock up on Celia ahead of the summer season and I imagine this will be fab with a BBQ. Very refreshing, light, great tasting and does not leave you bloated!
Have you tasted Celia or any other gluten free lager or beer?
