Spiezia Organics at The Balmoral Spa – Head in Heaven

Spiezia Organics at The Balmoral Spa – Head in Heaven

One thing I have realised is that you guys do love a Spa …. hey, I am not judging, I applaud you.  With this is mind I have recently had a couple of awesome Spiezia Organics Spa treatments that I urge you to go forth and try too.  The glorious Spiezia Organics was one of the first natural spa treatments I tried and adored. When I heard that they were launching at The Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh, I was over the moon.

Unlike so many Spa products, Spiezia’s range  (pronounce spee -et -zia) are 100% natural, contain no synthetic chemicals, are Soil Association Certified Organic and are so natural you can eat them. Everything we put on the outside of our body will effect the inside of our body in some way, what better reason to make sure your next spa treatment is a natural as possible.

“With the skin being the largest organ of your body, up to 2kg of chemicals can be absorbed through it each year just from toiletries and skin care products. We promise uncontaminated natural product which will not be tested on animals. We process our balms and oils using a unique method of capturing solar and lunar energy during a targeted ‘maceration’, which lies at the heart of each product to provide intense and natural properties.” (Spiezia Organics)

Spiezia at The Balmoral Spa ……We have all been to a Spa where it feels a bit rushed and you feel like you are part of a production line …. some a little less well oiled production line than others. #impersonal #NotRelaxing. At The Balmoral Spa this was not the case.  I felt like I was the only person in for a treatment that day and there was no sign of any production line!  I was calmly greeted by my therapist beside the pool, before being escorted to my treatment room.  This is probably a great point to mention that the message beds at The Balmoral Spa are one of the most comfortable ever!! Especially the face cushion part where your cheek bones are sometimes squashed … not here, my cheek bones were cushioned beautifully!

Let me tell you about the first of my Spiezia Organics treatments, Head in Heaven. When I first looked at the Spiezia Organics treatment menu at The Balmoral Spa, I struggled to decide which treatment I should have. It was in March, end of term and I was about to head off on a holiday with 7 members of my family.  I was feeling somewhat tired, had too many plates spinning, emotionally drained and definitely holding far too much tension in my shoulders. Traditionally I would have chosen a deep tissue massage to ease any muscular tension, but the truth of the matter is that one deep tissue massage would never be enough to tackle this tension. I was drawn to Head in Heaven as soon as I read that this innovative treatment eases tension and helps clear the mind. Bingo!

Head in Heaven by Spiezia Organics is simply unlike any other treatment I have experienced. My fabulous therapist started off with guiding me through some relaxing breathing exercises. I loved this. Not only did these really help me get in the zone for relaxation, but they also started a connection between me and my therapist. I quickly started to forget the bustling world I had left outside. By the time I got to lying down I was already heading to a place of calm.

Claire, my awesome therapist, then used Tui Na Chinese massage techniques on the acupressure points of my upper back, shoulders and head. Tui Na is a massage technique that has been used in China for thousands of years. It focuses on restoring the flow of  QI. Each of the meridian lined massage movements are hypnotically gentle, slow, rhythmic and can probably be described as lightly lifting and squeezing the skin. Sounds weird and you might be wondering how could that be relaxing and effective? Well, it was just that, very relaxing. So unbelievably relaxing, in fact, that as I came to write this part of the blog post I could hardly remember my therapists description of how this works on the body. All I could remember was how good it felt both during and after the treatment.

My Head in Heaven Treatment was finished off with a gorgeous facial pressure point massage using the amazing skincare range by Spiezia Organics. This was the perfect ending to a blissful 85 minutes.  I left The Balmoral Spa in a very different head space to when I arrived. I was most definitely uplifted emotionally and my rock solid shoulder muscles were so much softer to touch. It was no shock to hear the inspirational Amanda Barlow, MD at Spiezia Organics, describing the rhythmic flow of this treatment as bringing the mind to the parasympathetic state …. I agreed with her completely as I had said hello to reaching blissful equilibrium.  Not only did my mind feel calm and less cluttered but the rest of my body had entered a state of deep relaxation. #dreamlike

It is little wonder that this gentle Head in Heaven treatment by Spiezia Organics can really be used at any age and on any person. Like all Spiezia treatments, Head in Heaven is especially wonderful for those having chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. When your body is in a parasympathetic state it is placed in that wonderful stage of not quite being asleep but being extremely relaxed. It is in this state that the body heals best. Leaving my treatment room I felt more relaxed than after spending a week in the Caribbean! This was just what my body and mind needed. This has to be one of the best de-stressing massages ever! The fact that it was followed by a facial is such a winning combination! Goodbye tension. Hello to eased mind and glowing skin.

Head in Heaven at The Balmoral Spa is £110 for 85 Minutes.
