Jane Scrivner Nourishing Cleanser

Jane Scrivner Nourishing Cleanser

She balms, she balms…

For a number of years I have was an avid user of Eve Lom’s cleanser. I used the original and also the Morning time cleanser, always with great results. I was a bit sceptical when I first got my Jane Scrivner’s Nourishing Cleanser. To be honest, on first impressions, it looked like all the other cleansing balms out there in the market.

My initial thoughts were nice packaging, but I felt the box was maybe a bit big for the 100ml pot. I then realised that under the pot was a layer and under this was an extremely plush hand mitt for removing the product…. ah ha hence the big box! Seriously soft and luxe mitt. There was also a spatula to help get the balm out the pot….. I found this after trying to use my nail first of all. The spatula is a more hygienic option!

The cleansing balm looks a similar colour to most others in the market. However, as soon as you open the pot you are hit by the smell, which is definitely not like it’s competitors. The blend of essential oils includes ylang ylang, lavender, eucalyptus, sweet orange and sandalwood. They are blended together with jojoba oil and beeswax. What a mixture! Invigorating on your skin and also invigorating to inhale!  I applied the balm over my face, massaged it in and used the mitt to remove. I did not feel that my skin had excess residue left on it, the mitt did a good job of ensuring that.  My skin did feel hydrated though….hydrated enough not to need additional moisturiser!

The leaflet accompanying the product explains that this anti-oxidant and anti-ageing balm can be used for other treatments on top of cleansing. Here is where it greatly differs from others.  These include a treatment mask, overnight rescue balm or even as a repair for the skin after a day in the sun! I tried it overnight and put a thin layer over my face before I went to sleep. The smell that had been invigorating during the cleansing process earlier, was now calming, soothing and helped give clear breathing…. almost decongestant like.  I slept amazingly and my skin appeared to have done the same.

I can see why this product has won numerous awards from a number of credible sources.  My skin did feel awesome afterwards. I would use it overnight again, particularly if I get that kind of sleep every time! The essential oils have a glorious scent to them which make the product unmistakable. I liked that this product is actually several products in one. Perfect for if you are travelling!  The Jane Scrivner Nourishing Balm can be bought direct from for £43. The spatula allowed me to take the right amount of product out without wastage. This cleanser is the first of her range of products I have tried and I am tempted to try some more.
