Bioskin Junior for Children with sensitive skin and eczema.

Bioskin Junior Fifi Friendly

Itching for something new….

I never have suffered from eczema myself, but I have watched at close hand the discomfort my daughter experiences during a flare up…..even though she has a mild form of the condition.  This time of year marks the start of a couple of months of increased irritation.  I understand that some eczema sufferers find summer months easier but she seems to be the opposite. We tried at least 5 different ointments and emollients from our doctor before eventually finding one that was ok, not amazing, just ok.  (From chatting with a few friends it seems we were not alone). I was very aware of the chemicals that are in these products and started researching a more natural alternative. I discovered the Bioskin Junior range by Salcura which is aimed at skin prone to eczema or severe dryness. Only one question….why did it take me so long to find it? Zero points to me!!

I  had a delivery of the Bath Milk, Nourishing Spray and Rescue Cream. I don’t know where to start. You know when you find some products and you wonder how you have managed to live without them in your life….this, to me, is one of them. Natural chemical free, gentle, user friendly and a healthy skin tailored to your needs. I love the way they are split into two therapies which are easily combined – daily maintenance and flare up. Bioskin Junior have provided a simple to use scale to show when products should be used depending on skin condition, and with no steroids! To top that, all of them smell awesome! There is also a great range of wash products to use including bath milk, shampoo, face & body wash.

We started with the Bathtime Bath Milk. Made from 98% natural origin that should always  be a good start. In fact it is so natural I was happy for my son to use it as well. This bath milk works as a cleanser, came in a  300ml bottle and we loved it.  First thing we noticed was the calming smell. This was a mix of chamomile and lavender. The milk turned the bath a cloudy colour and one thing that I found interesting was the non-greasy feel to the bath water. If you have used other bath milks or emollients you might know what I mean? With our old bath emollient, if my daughter had dipped her hair in the bath for less than a second her hair would look greasy when dried. This was different, there was a definite softening effect on the skin and the bath was not slidey……much to my son’s upset!  Their skin felt lovely and soft when they got out…..as did ours and we had only been dipping our hands in!
Ingredients: Aqua**, aloe barbedensis (aloe vera)**, glycine max (soyabean oil)**, PEG- 7 glyceryl caprylate*, glyceryl stearate*, cetyl alcohol*, ceteareth 20 *, lavendula officinalis ( lavender oil)**, anthemis nobilis (roman chamomile oil)**, calendula officinalis (calendula extract)**, phenoxyethanol, carbomer, sodium hydroxymethyl glycinate, linalool**.

The Daily Nourishing Spray was our next port of call.  Natural skin essential omega oils, vitamins and minerals are blended together in this 92% natural origin product. The spray made it really easy to apply, with the kids also managing to rub it in themselves.  The light texture seemed to permeate the skin as soon as it was smoothed over, so this was a definite plus point for me. I hated previous ones that left a claggy feeling on the skin and resulted in getting dressed being delayed until the skin dried. Our skin felt fresh, smelt lovely and did not feel greasy. The kids loved it and kept coming back for more to rub in. I tried this on my own skin and liked it. I can imagine it would be really soothing on a warm day. My only down point, which is minimal in the scheme of things, is that when I brought it back out again the following day, some of the product had leaked into the cap from the spray. This is a side point…..or more a learning point for me to keep it upright when possible.
Ingredients: Aqua **, glycerin*, helianthus annuus (sunflower seed oil)**, glycerol oleate, glycol stearate SE, cetearyl glucoside, sodium cetearyl sulfate, phenoxyethanol, triticum vulgare (wheat germ oil) **, isononyl isononanoate hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn kernel extract)**, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary leaf extract)**, olea europaea (olive fruit oil)**, carthamus tictorius (safflower seed oil)**, lavandula angustifolia (english lavender oil)**, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary leaf oil)**, urea*, ethyhexylglycerin, tocopheryl acetate, caprylyl glycol, sodium chloride (salt)**, cetearyl alcohol *, aloe barbadensis (aloe leaf juice powder)**, beta-carotene *, geraniol *, limonene *, linalool**.

Finally we tried the Outbreak Rescue Cream. Its arrival came at the right time with the onset of her most recent flare up…..thanks to the strong pollen’s in our neighbouring fields.  This product is not for everyday use, but for when flare ups occur. I loved that it is a steroid free alternative.  My daughter is not one to pay attention if you ask her to try and not scratch her skin, so I was concerned where the steroid cream would actually end up!  The Bioskin Junior Rescue Cream was easily dispensed and was absorbed by the skin a lot quicker than I expected. The slightly grey coloured cream….due to the natural volcanic zeolite it contains….is naturally kind to the skin, with 96% coming from natural origin.  In fact it is so natural, I was happy to let my daughter apply it behind one of her knees.  Great product. I would be comfortable using it under sun creams without any detriment. Although not what it is made for, I tried this skin on my hands and feet…..after noticing Urea as it’s 4th ingredient. Fantastic, it smoothed in super easily and did not leave a greasy residue. I also tried it on my step-father’s (weathered from walking the dogs and doing the garden) hands…..I did ask him first…. and his hands were instantly rejuvenated!! He was quite possibly not as enthused about this as I was…..it’s a guy thing.  Overall, loved this product, I found it to be a bit of a miracle cream.
