Based out of The Lovely Clinic in London, Dr Sarah Tonks has been one of my favourite social media finds of this year. If you are curious about medical aesthetics, Sarah’s social media channels including her You Tube are really informative, nearly always amusing and worth checking out. As a highly qualified Aesthetic Doctor, from a traditional surgical background and with degrees in both medicine and dentistry, Sarah has an eagle eye for detail and a considered patient centred approach.
With more people being open about the work or tweakments they have had done, I started to hear more about the “Injectable Glow” that Dr Tonks has been receiving some great press about. Seen by some as the first step on the tweakment ladder, Profhilo is an injectable, stabilised and synthetic free hyaluronic acid. As an injectable moisturiser, hyaluronic acid can hold over 1,000 times its own weight in water, leaving your skin hydrated and volumised from the inside out. Geniusly Profhilo also kicks starts your own skin’s cell turnover to produce more skin plumping collagen and elastin.

What is your top well-being tip from 2018? Excercise! Recent research has shown that not exercising is worse for your health than smoking.
This year I have tried to live a little greener by…. I went vegan after seeing a lecture from Dr Michael Greger last year. I lasted 9 months and cracked but it has definitely shown me how to consume fewer animal products and I am trying to decrease these to a small part of my diet.
What is your best it bit of 2018 and what are you looking forward to most in 2019? The best bit is always seeing the YouTube channel grow and being able to reach more people. It’s very satisfying to be able to be a part of changing people’s perceptions about non surgical procedures. Of course I’m looking forward to this growing nest year but also starting a Masters at George Washington University in the US in Integrative Medicine. I haven’t decided yet if I will bring this into the clinic yet as I’m very busy with what I do now, but If I can then I will. I’ll probably just offer to existing patients as there are so many hours in the day.
Five products that I could not live without? Pureology Colour Fanatic before drying my hair. Sounds lame but it’s so detangling and as I often have extensions then it’s a must. Alumier Simply Hydration SPF. It’s tinted and a physical sunscreen. Means I don’t have to wear make up! The Perfect Body Lotion – it’s got retinol and glutathione in it and makes you look airbrushed. Skinceuticals HA Intensifier – you can’t get a better hydrating serum. Bio Sculpture Gel – I have to have a manicure or I don’t feel dressed and bio sculpture stays on for 3 weeks which fits my schedule! I’ve been seeing the same nail tech for years.
What would you like to find under the Christmas Tree or in your Christmas Stocking this year? Nothing! I don’t need anything and if I do need something then I buy it myself. I would rather have the time with my family and friends than any gift.
