Unless you have been in a far flung tropical island with no TV …. or any other form of media for that matter …. you will have seen or heard of the downsides of refined sugar on our health. There has been a wonderful rise in the amount of sugar free or naturally sweet recipes online and also, for those who don’t want to completely give up sugar, an awful lot more products with lower GI in them. Although I don’t have the sweetest tooth in my family I was interested to try out some alternatives.
Recently family have been loving Biona Organics Agave Light Syrup. This mild, yet sweet tasting vegan friendly syrup comes from the Mexican Agave plant. I like it! It tastes great on toast, in porridge and I am about to use it as part of a chocolate cake recipe. The easy to dispense bottle allows for simple control of how much syrup dollops out! Due to it’s thinner consistency, this Agave Light Syrup is great to add to hot drinks or cocktails as it dissolves really well and quickly. Although this product still has a high fructose level it is an option to consider. Big thumbs up from me.
