3 natural ways to help grow longer and fuller eyelashes

3 natural ways to help grow longer and fuller eyelashes

So you want long and luscious eyelashes …. who doesn’t! 2018 is continuing to be the year that bigger brows and bigger lashes are touted as giving your face a more youthful appearance… huzzah!

A few months ago I started to notice that my eyelashes looked a bit scrawny …. less of them, definitely shorter and just a bit rubbish looking. As much as I understand the link between general health and hair growth, I wanted to see what I could do to improve this … less scrawny and a bit more Bambi lashes please!

For those of you who don’t fancy eye lash extensions with their toxic glue or using the buzz eyelash extending gel that has been banned in countries due to its un-friendly to skin ingredients …. have no fear there are some great quick and easy natural alternatives to try. Give your lashes a boost without the toxic irritation and infections!

Castor Oil

Anyone else just think of castor oil being the thing that Grannies used to have a teaspoon of each day? Well this oil is also great at stimulating hair growth on your eyelashes and brows! Castor oil is rich in vitamin e, circulation boosting essential unsaturated fatty acids like omega 6 as well as being naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory.

First wash the eye area to make sure it to clean of makeup, product or daily grime. Then, using a clean mascara wand or some cotton wool if you prefer, use a couple of drop of castor oil to the eyelashes starting from the root to the tip. You will only need a small amount which you leave on over night and rinse off in the morning. Super easy! I have started to do this daily as the last part of my night-time skincare routine.

I have heard that some people like to use castor oil as an eye make up remover too.

Pukka castor oil

I like to use this organic and cold pressed castor oil from Pukka. It is hexane and ricin free too!

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is not just well-known for its moisturising properties but it is wonderfully regenerative too. This makes jojoba oil perfect for helping lashes to grow longer before falling out by adding moisture to lashes and also protecting and regenerating the hair follicles.

This oil can be applied from root to tip like castor oil .

Massage

Massaging the eyelid area gently, especially around the eyelash area, works in the same way traditional massage does elsewhere in your body. It really encourages the blood and circulation into the area, which in this case also will help stimulate lash growth.  I like to apply one of the oils above first before starting to gently massage. Always make sure your hands are clean first.

aloe vera

Aloe Vera

I have been recommended to add a little fresh aloe vera gel from my plant at home to castor oil to make a kind of home-made lash gel. Use equal parts of each product and apply with a mascara wand or cotton wool. I would love to hear if any of you have tried this!!
