When ex- investment banker turned natural beauty insider Olivia Thorpe was asked by her friend to make an anti-scarring skincare product she did not expect this serum to go on to become an anti-aging and nourishing skincare must have. That is exactly what Thorpe, the Vanderohe.com founder did with the exquisite 100% pure and essential oil Vanderohe No.1 Nourishing Face Serum. Made from a potent blend of 11 meticulously chosen oils, Vanderohe No.1 Nourishing Face Serum has first class skin healing and skin nourishing properties, as well as a delectably compelling mood enhancing aroma.
Vanderohe to me epitomises clean beauty. The quality of oils used within this deep gold coloured skincare product were very clearly high on the agenda during formulation. Olivia spent months sourcing the very high-grade organic, cold pressed and wild harvested oils which were not only extracted in their purest form but also sourced from their natural country of origin. These supreme quality oils are then synergistically blended to deliver multi-correctional benefits including targeting pigmentation, skin sensitivity, psoriasis, and reversing the signs of ageing.
Scent and blend
Like many of us, during her pregnancy Thorpe became more aware of what she was putting on her skin. She noticed that she became sensitive to some of her beloved Estee Lauder and Creme De La Mer creams and also their scents. It was around this point that she started to focus on more natural, green beauty and organic products. During her second pregnancy, after struggling to find a skincare product that’s aroma did not aggravate her, Olivia decided to take part in a skincare making workshop. It was here that her interest in the benefits of essential oils and aromatherapy really began. Olivia went on to attain an organics diploma and also discover the art of synergistic blending which is at the heart of this green beauty hero.
Each oil in her No.1 Nourishing Face Serum is blended in a particular order to achieve the final result every time …… a simply stunning, unique and effective product with a distinctive aroma. In fact, the Aromatherapy Trade Council have praised the aroma-therapeutic qualities of this serum, as well as its skin-nourishing properties. For me, Vanderohe No.1 Nourishing Face Serum has to be one of my favourite smelling skincare products. Its scent is wonderfully transporting. A blend of rose otto, rose geranium, lavender, rose hip, cedarwood, grapeseed, frankincense, roman chamomile, neroli, apricot and wild crafted myrrh essential oils give a truly rich, luxurious and floral fragrance.
More information on these skin friendly ingredients can be found her on the Vanderohe Website
Even before I had applied this oil based serum on my skin, it had an effect on me. From the moment I opened the bottle and breathed in the intoxicating yet delicate aroma, my mood felt transformed. Simply apply 2-3 drops to your hands and take a few deep breaths in before massaging the serum onto your skin. Apply each morning and evening as required. Vanderohe No.1 is great being used under make up and also adds well in with your moisturiser.
Designed to help the user truly visualise and connect with each ingredient used in the serum, the Vanderohe packaging is spot on. Gorgeously illustrated with botanical drawings, the packaging uses recycled paper and educates the user about where the oils come from and why they are used. This serum is housed in a protective glass miron bottle. Responsible sourcing and carbon footprint are important to this brand and the latter is offset with a tree planting donation. During my two-week trial of only using this face serum, I also appreciated that the writing on the packaging did not smudge with the oil …. my bottle looks just as pristine now as it did when I opened it for the first time.
10% of the profits from Vanderohe goes directly to the Four Seasons Marine Saver Programme in the Maldives which is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Here they research coral reefscaping and manta rays. This was an important partnership for Vanderohe founder Thorpe, to help give back to the ocean and its marine life that have been damaged by the plastic and chemicals of the beauty industry over the years.
I love it when great skincare, using the best natural ingredients work on my skin and my soul at the same time. This truly nourishing and soul transporting oil based serum has been created to provide everyday skin support in a way that cleverly rebalances, revitalises and repairs even the most sensitive skin. This one effective natural beauty product wonderfully does all this. What a gorgeous way to simplify your skincare routine. Win win if you ask me.
Vanderohe No.1 Nourishing Face Serum is vegan and cruelty free. The £88 for 30ml price tag may seem a lot on initial inspection, but I would say this, I would much rather spend money on one great quality product that addresses all of my skincare needs rather than spend less on several that are not as effective. I was sent this product as a PR sample but when it is finished I would be more than willing to pay for its replacement ….. and the one after that ….. and the one after that.
Vanderohe currently have one product in their range and I am excited to hear that the have a new launch coming in May 2018.
This product was gifted to me as a PR sample. As ever all my thoughts in this piece are never influenced by this. Please see my disclaimer for more.
